WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

We recommend athletic clothing (without zippers or snaps) that is comfortable to move in, that allows for movement and support, you won’t mind getting sweaty and provides enough coverage to make you feel comfortable while performing exercises.  Instructors need to see your posture and body position, so loose fitting clothes are not recommended.

You do not need sneakers to practice Pilates however grip socks are permitted. We do not require socks, but a variety of grip socks may be purchased at the studio or you are welcome to bring your own.  We do recommend athletic shoes for all TRX classes.

In our efforts to provide you with a chemical-free environment to workout in, we ask that you please leave perfumes and scented body products at home.

What if I am running late?

Living in LA we understand there are times that you may be delayed.  Please call or email the studio if you know you're going to be late, so that we may notify your instructor and hold your spot.

For your own safety and as a courtesy to others, we do not allow people to join the class who are more than 10 minutes late.  Exceptions may be made at the discretion of the instructor and if we feel you are capable of doing your own warm-up in order to catch up with the class.

If you are more than 15 minutes late for a private session and you have failed to notify us, your session

What is the cancellation policy?

We understand that plans change and life gets in the way sometimes, but as a courtesy to our clients and our instructors, please cancel all reservations according to the following policy.

All Group Classes: 12 hours before class start time

Private and Semi-Private Sessions: 24 hours before session start time

Failure to provide this notice will result in a late cancel, and the loss of one class or session. If you do not have a package on file, you will be charged for a single class/session.

We appreciate as much notice as possible to allow other clients a chance to fill your space in the event of a cancellation.  If you are not able to make it to a reserved class or session, please cancel by calling or emailing us (or online/via app if a class) prior to the scheduled start time.  This will help us fill the spot if another client is on a waitlist.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN IF I AM ON THE 'WAIT LIST'?

If you are on the wait list, getting into the class is dependent upon someone else who is currently signed up dropping the class or failing to show up.  We encourage you to put yourself on the waitlist for any class you’d like to attend that’s full.  People cancel classes every day and there’s usually a good chance you’ll get in.

When a spot opens, an email is automatically sent confirming your reservation.  If that email is sent any day PRIOR to the day of class, we assume you will be here.  If it is the SAME DAY as your class we will also call you to confirm your reservation.  Note: If you are not opted in to receive emails and you are on a waitlist it is your responsibility to monitor your class schedule either through your online account or the MindBody app.

If you CANNOT attend the class please cancel as soon as possible, either online, or by reply to your confirmed reservation email, or call us at 323-822-9584.  If it is almost class time and you are still on the waitlist, feel free to swing by just before class and cross your fingers for a no show!  Note: You are not guaranteed a spot in class until notified by Harmony.

IT'S MY FIRST TIME DOING PILATES, WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT?

Welcome to Harmony! Trying something new can be a bit scary, but we'll do our best to make sure you feel comfortable and energized for your workout.

Here are a few tips:

• Get there early!  For your first visit, please arrive 10 minutes before your scheduled workout.  We will show you the ins and outs of the studio and get you set-up for your first class/session.
• Schedule a one-on-one session!  Although not required, a private session can make you feel more at ease.  Not only does it allow you to become familiar with the equipment, exercises and teacher but it allows us to get to know your body and how it works before we see you in a group setting.  The more information we have, the better we will be able to create modifications and variations to make sure you have the best possible experience.
• Talk to us!  Advise the teacher of anything going on that day that may impact your workout. This can be anything from a full blown injury, to minor aches and pains or maybe you just didn't sleep enough last night!
• Ask questions!  Be sure to take a look at the other FAQs for any questions you may have and if you don't find the answer your looking for, feel free to reach out!

WHAT IF I AM OUT OF SHAPE OR INJURED?

New to working out?  You don't have to be flexible or "in-shape" to start Pilates.  We all started from zero and we'd love to help you work on your flexibility, strength and desired fitness level.  We offer modifications to many exercises and encourage you to move at your own pace.

Be sure to let us know about any injuries, changes in your body, or special conditions PRIOR to your workout.  Pilates is an excellent rehabilitative exercise program and we are here to help, and the only way we can assist you with modifications during your session is if we are aware of your personal history.

We can accommodate many types of injuries or concerns as long as you have been cleared by your physician for regular exercise.  We are more than happy to coordinate with your provider (doctor, physical therapist, massage therapist etc) to make sure we work together to provide you with a comprehensive program.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I COME TO SEE RESULTS?

Everybody is different!  It depends on your fitness level and desired results.  The more you workout and the better shape you get in, the faster your recovery will be.  The more you work out and the more consistent you are, the better results you will get.  We generally recommend attending classes/sessions 2-3 times per week. In no time you should feel taller and leaner, have increased body awareness, increased tone in problem areas, and a general increase in energy.

I AM PREGNANT, CAN I STILL DO PILATES?

Yes!  Many of our instructors are trained in pre and post natal protocols.  Pilates is safe do to during pregnancy because it is gentle on the joints, strengthens the deep abdominals and pelvic floor, and prevents low back pain.  We recommended that you consult with your doctor before you begin any exercise program and if possible introduce Pilates early in your pregnancy.  Please tell your instructor if you are pregnant, so modifications can be provided during your class/session.

CAN I SHARE A PACKAGE WITH A FRIEND OR FAMILY MEMBER?

If you would like to share a package you may do so by making the request at the front desk.

DOES MY PACKAGE HAVE AN EXPIRATION DATE?

We know that most of us have a busy schedule with work, family and travel, so we offer regular savings in the form of packages to accommodate life's unpredictably. Regular Harmony packages, those that offer a discount on purchasing multiples, do not have an expiration date. By default these packages will expire in our system after one year, but if this happens just alert the desk staff and we can make adjustments.

If you choose to take advantage of one of our Harmony Challenge packages or a limited time special offer, then there will be a defined expiration date dependent on the terms of the offer.

DO YOU OFFER GIFT CARDS?

Yes!  Nothing is better than giving your loved ones something that will make them stronger, healthier, and happier!

You may buy sessions to be added directly to a Harmony client's account or purchase a gift card, so that they can do the shopping!  Gift cards are available in any denomination, and can be used towards any goods or services sold at Harmony Studios.  Just give us a call, shoot us an email at harmonystudios@harmonystudiosla.com, or see us in the studio for further information and to make a gift card purchase.

DO YOU HAVE A REFFERAL PROGRAM?

Currently we do not have a referral program, but it's in the works.

ANYTHING ELSE I SHOULD KNOW?

A few additional tidbits to make the most of your visit. :)

• As a courtesy to other clients, please silence your phone before you walk into the studio. If you need to make a call or text, please step outside the building so that you do not disturb sessions in progress.

• Please leave furry friends at home. We have a resident hypo allergenic Pilates pooch, Ellie, who will happily serve as your provisional object of affection.

• Harmony clients are welcome to use the Cardio equipment (treadmill and elliptical machine) before or after a scheduled class or session.
